Holiday weekend, vacation

Yesterday was a lovely day in Anchorage. It was sunny, 65 degrees and I actually got to see it. Normally I would have been in work. It's a holiday weekend, though.

I spent most of the morning downtown with my aunt. We had breakfast at Snow City Cafe and walked through the weekend market (a couple of times). We ended up with armloads of locally grown fruits and veg as well as some silly toursity stuff. Then we drove out to the valley.

One of my aunt's friends just bought a house in the valley and neither one of us had ever been. I've been to Wasilla once, maybe twice, but would never admit to actually liking it. The drive out to this house, however, man...

The sky was blue, the roads were winding, trees and grass and crops all different shades of green. If the commute wasn't so long, I'd buy a place out there. It was perfectly quiet and lovely. Plus, there was a great dog with lots of property to run around on and the possibility of seeing tons of moose.

Today isn't quite as nice. It's overcast and a little chilly. I slept a lot yesterday and last night so I was up early today. I'm okay with that. I don't have a lot to do in the next couple of days. I want to clean, I want to do laundry. Then my vacation begins on Tuesday.

I'll be in Michigan for almost 2 weeks.

I'm both excited and aprehensive about my trip. I just hope the weather is nice.
